There is absolutely NO obligation to buy us a gift.

1: Social constructs are stupid

2: We know we have expensive taste.

That said, please avoid substitutions. We (mostly Kate) fall down very specific rabbit holes for certain items and have the mentality of “buying the boot” (aka buy the thing that will last) and also fits our very specific functionality requirements (Can you tell we are engineers?). If you have substitutions requests, please contact us directly for consideration / approval.

To be blunt: We would rather have no gift than an item that doesn’t fit our needs. Your presence is present enough, and we appreciate you all. Thank you for coming to our TEDTalk.
